I worked together with the California Raisin Marketing Board to create this recipe and was compensated for my time. The opinions below are mine and mine alone and do not represent those of the California Raisin Marketing Board.
It never fails, every day after I pick Hayden up from school he tells me that he is hungry as soon as we get home (even though he eats at like 11:30 and gets out at 1:00.) Around this time, my two year old is wanting lunch so I am scrambling trying to get his snack and her some sort of healthy meal (that she will actually eat) prepared. Obviously quick and easy snacks are a must but I want it to be a non-junky one too! These rice cakes are perfect. They’re a healthy, easy, allergy-friendly snack with just enough sweet to make the kiddos happy.
A fun element to this snack that kids will enjoy are the different designs you can make with California Raisins. They can even make their own designs after you spread the sunbutter! (Or whatever spread your family uses.) And if you’re in a hurry, just throw a handful of raisins on top, it’ll still taste just as yummy.
And if you’re like me, you’ll pop several (handfuls) into your mouth while you’re adding them on top of the rice cakes. ;)
So, just like that you’ll have your quick, naturally-sweet, healthy, after-school snack (that’s allergy-friendly) for that little munchkin that hounds you for food as soon as he walks in the door. Now if I could figure out a way to keep him from fighting with his sister…
